Adopt a Highway
Adopt A Highway is a program sponsored by the Wrightwood Property Owners Association (WPOA) and is overseen by Caltrans. The goal of the program is to keep Highway 2 clean and free of trash and debris. The area covered by this program is a two-mile stretch from the LA County Line (Mile Marker .5) just past Cardinal up to Wright Mountain Rd. Martha McFauls is the Volunteer Coordinator for the WPOA group of volunteers. Volunteers ‘adopt’ a section and during the scheduled weeks for trash pick-up, walk their section picking up trash and other items that have been discarded along and on the highway. All collected trash bag(s) and all other items that do not fit in a trash bag, are to be left on the South side of the highway in a safe place for Caltrans to pick up. If any item(s) are too heavy, volunteers are not to move the item(s), take a picture of it, and text to Martha along with a description of the item and its location.
